Olivia is a name that likely derives from the Latin ‘Oliva’ meaning olive, olive tree. It is a name that represents endurance and resourcefulness.

For centuries, olive trees have been considered a cherished commodity. Known for its lifespan, some trees have stood for thousands of years. The oil from the tree was used for fuel in lamps, and skin regiment. Olive oil was also used in holy preparation. Often mixed with aromatic resin, spices and herbs, to anoint clergy. And the leaves from the tree were sometimes used in sports, made into wreaths, to crown winners.

The fruit of the tree was also consumed. Olives are rich in monounsaturated fat which can help your heart (cardiovascular health). And vitamin E which (as an antioxidant) has a role in protecting your body from oxidative damage and inflammation1.

The fruit and oil of the olive tree still maintains its popularity, used and eaten in a variety of ways.

What’s more, you can find kitchen wares like dishes, fine furniture, and home decor made from olive wood.

There’s really not much from the olive tree that is not utilized. It’s an all-around smorgasbord of goodness.
