Daisies have existed since ancient times. Its name denotes the “day’s eye” – for the ability to open during the day and close at night. In the 19th century, flowers were considered part of a language code with their own special meaning… Daisies conveyed innocence and purity.

In the 1880’s, it was among the top 5 botanical names used for girls, in the United States. Popularity for the name continued in the early 1900’s – then declined from 1936-1989. Since, it has remained among the top 200 names given to girls.
