History of Fireworks

A night event, or celebration, can often include cracking sounds and big booms followed by beautiful displays of cool shapes and colors in the sky. Fireworks are a mainstay around the world. Yet, the first fireworks likely began in China.

Around 220 BC to 101 BC, people began to throw bamboo sticks into fires and the hollow sticks would burst and create loud sounds. Over time, chemicals like charcoal, potassium nitrate and sulfur were used to fill the bamboo. The hollow part of the stick became a shell for these chemicals creating even louder more spectacular displays. With other chemicals chosen to provide bright flashes of light. Today, fireworks are more advanced and include a variety of combustible chemicals and gunpowder to dazzle and surprise audiences and bystanders.

Birthdays at the Zoo

A visit to the zoo can be a great way to learn about animals as well as the conservation efforts being made for endangered species. It’s an opportunity to spend time with family, have fun with friends, and enjoy nature. It can also be a nice option for birthday parties.

When exploring hosting a birthday party at a zoo, packages can include rental space, admission tickets, and party favors. Some facilities may also provide decorations and special animal encounters. You may also be able to lower the cost if you choose to use outdoor space like a picnic area or pavilion. Check your local listings.
