Happy December Birthdays, Interesting Moments in History, Bright Lights

Honoring all December birthdays!

This Month in History

In 1903, the Wright Brothers achieved their first powered flight.

In 1914, an incredible moment of peace occurred. During WWI, opposing troops paused from war to sing Christmas hymns! This phenomenon is known as the Christmas Truce.

In 1968, Apollo 8 became a most memorable mission – as it was the first time Earth was seen from the moon’s perspective. During their live broadcast astronauts read from the Book of Genesis.

Christmas in December

Constantine I was a Roman Emperor who ruled much of the known world. It was in the 4th century that the Christian Church established December as the month to celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus.

Lights, Lights, Lights

During the month of December, you can enjoy beautiful light displays. Lights galore, some up to 1 million, can be seen across the U.S. at botanical gardens. Check your local listings.

And consider asking to take the lead on some of the other holiday festivities. (It is your special month!)
