Events in History

In the 300s, during the reign of Roman Emperor Constantine I, the month of December was chosen to celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ.

In 1914, an incredible moment of peace occurred. During WWI, opposing troops paused from war to sing Christmas hymns. This phenomenon is known as the Christmas Truce.

In 1968, Apollo 8 became a most memorable mission – as it was the first time Earth was seen from the moon’s perspective. During their live broadcast astronauts read from the Book of Genesis.

In 1972, during the final Apollo mission, the crew took a beautiful photo of Earth, dubbed as the “Blue Marble.”

In 2017, astronauts at the International Space Station went viral as they held the first pizza party in space.
